To help soybean and soy meal customers better take advantage of this EAA benefit,
the soybean checkoff boards of North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota developed the CAAV (Critical Amino Acid Value) to measure essential amino acids and evaluate soybean quality. Working with respected researchers to track the CAAV in northern-grown soybeans, U.S. growers consistently deliver more value to producers, buyers and nutritionists by providing a more accurate picture of soybean protein quality.
The Northern Soy Marketing, LLC is the grower leader board formed by the three states. This board invests grower checkoff funds to conduct research on soybean quality and CAAV levels in northern-grown soybeans and funds outreach to buyers around the world. The sessions are conducted in countries and regions where U.S. soybeans and soybean meal are purchased. The sessions teach buyers to look at CAAV as a complete assessment of soybean quality rather than just looking at crude protein levels.
